Double-Blinded Placebo-Controlled Evaluation of Efficacy of Donepizil

In Mild Cognitively Impaired Subjects Using Structural MRI

The overall purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of donepezil hydro-chloride (E2020), a centrally acting acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, on cognitive and global function in subjects with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The specific objective of this proposal is to determine whether therapeutic intervention with donepezil slows the progression of brain atrophy, as measured with structural MRI, in specific regions, such as the hippocampus and the entorhinal cortex (ERC).
